When porcelain painting was automatized, Renoir and his fellows lost their jobs. His only option was to make his way as a painter and draughtsman. In Paris he met fellow-painters Sisley, Monet and Bazille, and in 1863 they took to painting in the open air – and the Impressionist movement was about to be born. Together with Cézanne, Degas, Monet and Pissarro he later organized a sales exhibition which dissolved in scandal and fisticuffs – hardly conceivable for the art-lover today when confronted with Renoir’s light and airy paintings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRenoir was a great lover of life and liked to present its brighter sides.
